Passband
- A CWL without an angle and a temperature can be met on paper and missed in the instrument.
- Average over the FWHM is lower than the peak; the request states which one is specified.
Blocking
- Compute it from the power at the blocked wavelength and the power the receiver can accept: OD = log10(Pin / Pallowed).
- A reading at the instrument's floor shows the OD is at least that value, not what it is.
Angle and polarization
- A converging beam shifts the passband toward shorter wavelengths and broadens it.
