Center wavelength against angle of incidence for effective index 1.45 to 2.00. Tilt shifts the band to shorter wavelengths.

jezdangomez.com

A datasheet page for a 532 nm narrow bandpass filter, before and after a rewrite. Before: one table of five values with no test conditions. After: a specification table with conditions and minimum, typical and maximum columns, and a plot of center wavelength against angle of incidence, which shifts 2.01 nm shorter at 10°.

Test conditions, limits and selection criteria

The datasheet states test conditions, separates typical values from minimum and maximum limits, and includes curves, a drawing and a part-number key.

The product page answers technical questions before a request for quote.

The selection guide explains which parts meet the buyer’s requirements.

Line chart. Angle of incidence (°) from 0 to 60. n_eff 1.45: 1.000 to 0.802; n_eff 1.85: 1.000 to 0.884; n_eff 2.00: 1.000 to 0.901 (Center wavelength ratio λθ / λ0).

Document types

Datasheet refresh

  • One datasheet, up to 4 pages
  • Test conditions stated; typical values kept apart from limits
  • Curves redrawn from your data, in code
  • A part-number key, and a list of gaps for your engineers
  • One review round

Product-page rewrite

  • One product-family page: copy and spec table
  • A technical FAQ of 6 to 8 questions
  • The questions your inquiry form should ask
  • Implementation notes for your web person
  • One review round

Selection guides

  • 6 to 10 pages: the specifications that matter, a selection flow and worked examples
  • Model curves computed in code, with the method stated
  • A request-for-quote checklist at the end
  • One technical review and one final review of revisions

Additional deliverables

  • Spec tables and comparison tables for a whole family (“which series for which application”)
  • Design-in checklists for the buyer’s engineer
  • “How to read our specifications” pages and glossaries
  • Documentation templates: a datasheet, app-note or test-report template in your own tools, with a filled example and a style note

Thin-film transmission and reflectance

Pick a stack, tilt it, and watch the reflectance curve and the color of the coating move. Every point is a transfer-matrix calculation running in your browser, the same method behind the curves on a filter datasheet.

Fused silica substrate

A single cavity with no blocking stack. Outside the mirrors' stop band it passes light again, and that leak sets most of the transmitted color.

Indices: fused silica, Malitson (1965); MgF₂, Dodge (1984); TiO₂, DeVore (1951), bulk rutile, so evaporated films run lower; Ta₂O₅, Rodríguez-de Marcos et al. (2016); N-BK7, the SCHOTT catalog.

At 13.5 nm the same calculation matches the Mo/Si mirror model on the EUV and DUV optics page to nine decimal places.

Specification review

  • From your measured data. I work from your test data and drawings.

  • Your engineers own the numbers. I don’t generate, certify or guarantee specifications; your engineers sign off every value.

  • Gaps go to you as a list. A missing condition or a unit that doesn’t match is flagged for your engineers, not filled in.

  • Product-page content. I write the copy, tables and FAQ; your web person builds the page from my notes.

Common questions

Can you start from our current datasheet?

Yes. Send the current PDF and the data behind its curves.

Do you need our raw test data?

To redraw curves, yes: the data behind each curve, under NDA if you like. For a copy-only refresh, the current datasheet is enough.

Can you use our template?

Yes. Or I set up a clean template you can reuse for the rest of the family.

Will you change our specifications?

No. I make the conditions and limits clear; your engineers decide every value.

Launching a new part? The Product Launch Package covers the datasheet refresh, the product page, a technical article, three posts and the launch email.
