3D models, drawings and CAD libraries for the parts you already make

I build STEP models, outline drawings and CAD library files from your released drawings, ready for your customers’ mechanical and PCB designs.

Downloads for your product pages

A STEP download, a dimensioned drawing and a footprint give customers files they can use in their models and board libraries. The free review checks whether your product pages include these downloads.

CAD deliverables

Request a model, its drawing, or a set of files for a product family.

3D models

  • A STEP model of your part, plus the native file on request
  • Built from your released drawing, with its number and revision recorded

Outline and mounting drawings

  • A dimensioned outline and mounting drawing, as PDF and DXF

Design-in file pack

  • The 3D model, drawing, KiCad pack and render set for one part
  • A README naming the drawing and revision each file was built from
  • Also an option on the Product Launch Package

Renders

  • Three views, two in context, and a cutaway where the model allows
  • For launches and product pages, where a photograph can’t show the inside

KiCad symbols and footprints

  • Schematic symbol, footprint and 3D model for one part or a family
  • Built to the KiCad Library Conventions from your package drawing
  • Released only after your engineer signs the sheet

Interactive 3D models

The STEP models from CAD and circuit design work can go on your product pages in a viewer like this one, with standard views, full screen and the envelope dimensions. Both packages here are illustrative and built to realistic dimensions.

TO-46 style photodiode can

Illustrative model. A TO-46 style can built to realistic dimensions: a Ø5.40 mm gold-plated header with an orientation tab, a nickel cap with a flat glass window over a Ø1.00 mm active area, and three leads on a Ø2.54 mm circle.

Source drawings and review

  • Built from your released drawings. Document numbers and revisions go into every file. Nothing from a sample, a photo or someone else’s library.

  • Your engineers make the engineering calls. If a drawing leaves a dimension open, the question goes back to them in writing, and the answer is theirs.

  • Libraries and boards are separate jobs. A KiCad pack is the symbol, footprint and 3D model for your part. Schematics and board layouts come with circuit design work, below.

Circuit design and readout electronics

I also design the electronics around a photodiode, from the device model to the finished board. The front end is a transimpedance amplifier (TIA), with bias and filtering sized for the noise and bandwidth you need. Your photodiode goes into MATLAB and SPICE as a device model, so the circuit is simulated and checked before anything is built.

  • TIA configuration: feedback resistor and capacitor chosen for gain, bandwidth and stability
  • Bias, filtering and a noise and bandwidth budget for the whole signal chain
  • MATLAB and SPICE simulation with a model of your photodiode
  • Checks that the simulated circuit meets its targets before layout
  • KiCad schematic and PCB layout
  • A 3D model of the board and a datasheet for the finished circuit

Formats

STEP and the native CAD file for models; PDF and DXF for drawings; KiCad symbol, footprint and 3D-model libraries; PNG or JPEG for renders. Every set comes with a README that names the drawing it was built from. Circuit work adds KiCad schematic and board files and the SPICE and MATLAB models.

Common questions

What do you need from us?

The released drawing and datasheet for each part, with their document numbers. If a dimension is missing, I’ll ask.

Can you model a part from a sample?

No. I work only from released drawings, so every dimension traces to a document your engineers own.

Who owns the files?

The proposal sets out ownership and usage rights. Each pack is built from your released drawings.

Can the files go on our product page?

Yes. You can offer the files as downloads beside the datasheet. I can also write the product-page copy.

Request CAD files

The free review checks your product pages for STEP models, drawings and CAD libraries, and names the smallest first step.
